STEVE! WHAT HAPPENED?
WOW...
Give Alex my best... Fred
I just read a post by Nelson Frink on the DBC Masters list. He was right behind the crash. I was very sorry to hear this. I wish Alex a rapid and complete recovery.

I wanna be mad. I wanna blame somebody... but the truth is it was just one of those things. A rider made a poor decision in front of him and went down leaving Alex nowhere to go. Sometimes guys go down and bounce right back up. Sometimes guys go down and it takes 6 weeks or longer to get back up.
Bummer for Alex because he worked so hard over the winter to be ready for the next four weeks only to be left sitting on the sidelines. Hopefully he'll be going strong again by Sea Otter. We'll see what the orthopedic surgeon has to say tomorrow.
Tonight, I'll be setting the alarm every three hours to make sure the vicodin doesn't wear off.
I understand the desire to get a good draft, to cover a move, or to hold a position, but the number of risks I see some riders taking in their attempts to acheive these goals leaves me flabbergasted. Paskenta is only a training ride--why in the world would someone risk the safety of the entire group? What possible outcome justifies such a gamble?
I've seen all three Wicks crashed off their bikes now, and all three incidents involved some other moron doing something inane. My best wishes for a speedy recovery to Alex and lessons in common sense to the rest of us.
shit steveo... how did he break it?? and hows he doing?
ps... rocked the collegiate mens A this weekend... if you take away stanford from both races i won the rr and got 2nd in the crit, unfortunetly stanford had like 30% of the field in both races so i got 4th in the rr and 2nd in the crit... not bad for never even finishing a mens a rr last year!
